Family holiday
Holidays with Children
Family holidays remain an important market segment: 17% of all households have children aged 13 or under, and 19% of all holidays and 21% of short breaks in 2025 were taken with children. This is reason enough to take a detailed look at all short and long holidays undertaken by families or with children.
The study examines where families particularly like to go on holiday, what specific characteristics define travel behaviour with children, and what expectations the accompanying adults have of holidays with children.
The report takes a detailed look at the target group and includes, amongst other things, benchmarks for participating RA partners. It utilises questions from the comprehensive core questionnaire, supplemented by at least one module question.
The following questions are answered:
- How big is the market for short breaks and holidays with children in different regions, and how has it developed?
- What are the target groups for travel with children, and how do they organise their trips?
- What specific product requirements do holidaymakers travelling with children have?
- Do these requirements differ depending on the ‘travel group’? (families with young children versus school-age children, domestic versus international travel, high versus low travel expenditure)
- What are the potential destinations and types of holiday for travellers with children?
