Module-Special: Travel Plans for 2026/2027 and AI on holiday trips

To enable an assessment of the current situation from the consumer’s point of view and to provide an outlook on the Germans’ holiday travel plans in 2025/2027, the FUR has again organized a module-special. For this purpose, an online survey representative of the population will be conducted with around 2,000 people in September 2026. The focus here is on recording holiday plans for the winter 2026/2027 and the summer 2027 in order to be able to assess, at short notice, the demand for holiday travel and the response to prices that continue to rise.

Added to this is the focus on artificial intelligence: by January 2026, AI-supported tools had already been used on more than 13 million holiday trips taken by Germans. Given the dynamic development of AI applications and their increasing prevalence, this topic will be explored in greater depth as part of the Reiseanalyse. The focus will be on the development of attitudes and usage over time, as well as new insights into the use of AI in a travel context.

Building on the findings to date, the study will examine in particular experiences with AI on holiday trips and the influence of AI on information, planning and decision-making processes. The aim is to identify new developments at an early stage and assess their significance for travellers and the tourism industry.
